From Limiting Reactivity to Creative Adaptation in Organizations

Organizations get stuck in themselves — not from a lack of talent or strategy, but from ingrained patterns that no one sees as patterns anymore. In this white paper I describe how Qualitative Attention is the counterforce that breaks through this, and what is structurally needed to anchor that attention within an organization.

Why this Whitebook?

Organizations get stuck in themselves — not from a lack of talent or strategy, but from ingrained patterns that no one sees as patterns anymore. In this white paper I describe how Qualitative Attention is the counterforce that breaks through this, and what is structurally needed to anchor that attention within an organization.

Core insights

Two movements are central. First: organizations do not react to what is at play now, but to what they expect on the basis of earlier experiences. The initiation is current; the reaction stems from the past. Second: breaking through that cycle does not call for better procedures or more training, but for a structural investment in the Qualitative Attention with which people and teams are truly present in what is at play here and now.

For who ?

This white paper is written for employers and employees, managers and team members, HR professionals, coaches, trainers, policymakers and politicians and their parties who recognize that something structural is at play in their organization — and who are willing to investigate that seriously. Whether you work in the cabinet, in government, in a company, a healthcare institution, a municipality or an educational institution: the dynamic described here is recognizable, and the approach is applicable.

I would gladly enter into conversation with colleagues who have an interest in my approach.
